LT-4 hot cam in TPI 355
im currently in the process of building a 355 for 91 Z28. i was wondering if the LT-4 hot cam (.525/.525 lift)(.218/.228 duration) is over kill on a tpi. im planning on porting the heads, runners and plenum or possibly using an HSR. how will it perform until i can get a chip burned.
thanks.
thanks.

Wow, im building the same thing you are. Im going to run the same cam. The lt4 is overkill for a stock tpi setup. My freinds t/a ran the same thing with the lt4 on a stock motor and it wasnt moving much faster than normal. Once the cam wants to get into full gear, the tpi cuts it off at around 4500 rpm. Well he switched over to zz4 heads and the stealth ram intake and he ran a 13.63@ 107mph. The cam is overkill on a stock motor but its good enough to get him 14.23@97 with the stock motor. With the stealth ram and get some cheap corvette aluminum heads and youll be flying, port those heads and youll be seeing some low 13 numbers! My buddy was putting ls1's to shame.

He's putting ls1's to shame yes...that was the last time he ran the car though. Since the last time he ran it he beefed up the tranny, got some gears. He also ported the heads... Thats why I said u should be seeing some low 13 sec. numbers. But yep, good cam and intake setup.

hey darkstar i could have sworn that i had the lt4 hot cam in the l98 with the stealth ram and the corvette heads and i never remember running 14's or 13's at the track, i do remeber running 14.4 at the track with my 327 with a stock tuned port and a totally different cam... oh yea i was also running stock heads.
with the lt4 cam in my l98 i was also running 1.5 rockers which is about .492 lift not .525, and when i had that setup i remember raping ur stang, and i dont remember putting ls1 to shame.... see you in class dude.
