LS1 and T5 Can it happen!!!!!!!!
Hello guys,
I have a 88 GTA and I have purchased a LS1 engine from a 99 TransAM. I now have a T5 that I installed behind my current setup. The transmission has been upgraded to handle over 500 ft. pounds by G-Force. I want to know if there is anything that I can do to keep my transmission and use it with the LS1. I know there is depth issues with crankshaft and input shaft I believe, but not for certain, but is this the only problem or will I have problems with bolt up patterns, and starter location, and such things of that nature?
Anybody with any help is greatly appreciated,
I would love to keep my 5 spd over a 6spd, I love the new gear sets, 2.95 1st and .59 5th and it workd well with my 3.70 gear. With a 6 speed I will have to upgrade to another rear to get 4.10 or 4.30 gear to match the same take off acceleration with my 5spd, considering the 6spd has 2.66 1st.
Sorry so long, but anyone with help please let me know so I can finalize this swap!!
