Short Block Swap help
My all original 305 t.b.i. just rolled over the 205,000 mile mark. The bottom-end is stock and all original. Pretty impressive, because it still has great compression and makes no noise. BUT...I don't want to push my luck, so I'm going to re-build it now before I HAVE to.
The magic question I've been debating. If I swap out to a 350, can my exsisting heads/cam support the larger displacement, and if so...will I make any significant power gains in doing so?
My delima. I can swap the bottom end to a 350, no problem. But I can't afford new heads, etc. right now. I'm making GREAT power with the 305 and the set-up I have right now. I did a lot of research before I threw it all together. Check my SIG for the combo I have equiped now. You think it will be worth it for the increased displacement? Or will it be like trying to breathe through a straw.
Cam: Comp Cams XR264HR-12 .488 int, .495 exh lift; 212 int 218 exh duration at .050; 112° LSA
Heads: see SIG
I will also be replacing my valves with Manley PRO-Flo valves , to greatly increase flow at low lift.
Give me some opinions...
