LT1 Swap & Throttle Cable

I have been working on my 92 RS for 4 years now (off and on) and am just about finished (I redid the interior, changed the rear end out and dropped an LT1 w/ a T56 in her). To those of you who have successfully done the LT1 Swap....how did you handle the throttle cable situation? Did you use the 3rd gen cable with a fabricated bracket or did you use a 4th gen cable? This is one of the few things I have left to do other than hooking up the Painless wiring harness. Thanks for any advice!!!

I believe most folks use the LT1 bracket with the TPI cable..

I went a bit differently and used the Lokar LT1/4 bracket and their high-tech cable, looks different and is braided stainless.. more expensive though..

Since I'm cheap, and didnt want to buy a new cable, I used the stock '94 Camaro LT1 cable in my '91 Firebird. It was about an inch to long, so I bent the arm on the pedal to make up the distance and it works great.

I was using an LT1 cable, found out it wasn't going WOT and bought a new cable for a '91 T/A or Z28, cost me 19 bucks, cut the little ear off the LT1 bracket and fits like a glove.

If you have thirdgen accelerator pedal - Use the TPI cable and modify the cable or the bracket to make the TPI cable fit.

If you have LT1 accelerator pedal - Use The LT1 throttle cable.

Klortho - do you have LT1 pedals?? Did the LT1 cable not work for you?

LT1 pedals, LT1 cable didn't let it go WOT....I'm thinking they are LS1 pedals instead, so I went with the TPI throttle cable.

I tried riggin up a cable and learned the hard way. I spent 45 minutes on the side of the road the day after I finished my swap, trying to rig up the cable again just to get home. I had to get the car towed and I just ended up "borrowing" one off of a buddys car who is building his motor. It is a 1991 TPI throttle cable and it works perfect with the LT1 bracket. My car was originally a TBI car and the TBI cable wouldn't work.

I called Street and performance and they sent me a cable for about $16 if I remember right. It hooked up to the throttle arm perfectly, had a plastic grommet to go thru the firewall and hooked to my 87 IROC pedal just right...........Their number is 479-394-5711.........or look them up on-line www.hotrodlane.cc
