305 to 350 swap questions

ok well i got a 87 iroc with a 305 tpi motor.pretty soon gonna be buying a 350 and from what i understand i can use my stock tpi set-up but jsut need to change my injectors, computer, and knock sensor.

so heres my questions....

what size injectors would i need?

is there anything else that i would need?

also i wanna put a little bit bigger cam but nothing too crazy. what do you guys reccomend?

What you've heard is pretty much true, although all you need for the computer is the PROM (aka "chip").

22 lb/hr injectors are what the factory put in 350 TPI cars.

Something along the line of a Comp XE262 would be about all the cam you'd want to put in a stock TPI engine. Is your 350 a roller lifter block?

Shouldn't be any problem at all. 350's were offered in '87, and they looked exactly like and were equiped exactly like LB9 305's. If you stay with center bolt valve covers there shouldn't be anything that tips them off. Even if they were tipped off, the engine is one that is allowable.

The "final touch" would be to put L98 stickers under the hood. However, since your VIN will say it was an LB9, that might earn you a trip to the Motor Change ref.

Thats why I hate CA. Back home in Indiana where I register my car there is no inspection what so every. Its soo nice when modifiing the car not having to worry about that B.S.

Sorry for jumping in on your thread, but I'm doing the same to a 91 GTA. 91 305 TPI sd to a complete 91 350 TPI sd out of a 91 Z. Besides the injectors, prom and the knock sensor is there anything else I need to change? I'm installing headers and exhaust,SLP runners, AFPR and new injectors. I would like to get the HP up to 300. Any suggestions on a cam and inj. size or anything else? Is the stock FPR the same on 305s and 350s? Thx.

possible 305tpi/700r4 with about 135k miles for sale. or part out soon.

What is involved in "proting" a intake?

I think you should wait and replace them at a later time.

Why not put that 700r4 in the RS?
