Re: Waking the sleeping beast.
It sat outdoors from 1999 till 2006 untouched (under a tree no less). Then we started working on it in 2006 and through the life of this thread (looks like Feb 2007) when we quit working on it. Then, just 2 weeks ago, my family started this project
Yep, theyre awesome

Necrothreaditits!
I still own this car and finally have the money and desire to finish it. Nothing crazy extravagant like I see in some rebuilding threads. It's in the backyard. Apparently, the cover I had on it wasn't really rated for outdoor use, or I just left it too long. I went down the other day to open it up and check it out and WATER! Not in the floorboards luckily, but the TTops and windows were wet. So Ive been airing it out every nice day we have.
I think Ill have to pull the carpet up and clean it from the inside out. Then its putting the console back together.
Fresh gas, an oil change, and hand crank the engine to see if it will fire up. I'm pretty sure it will, I drove it to where it sits today about 2 years ago. It's got a flat or two, but I already have temporary tires to go on, and a new battery.
Will update.

Re: Waking the sleeping beast.
Well, it hasn't been 5 years..yet.
Thank you for all the help and advice! But I've decided to sell it.
The time is right. It's still parked and if I'm honest with myself, I'll never do anything with it other than wish. It's going to a good home where I'm sure she will be well taken care of, much better than I have managed to do, perhaps even restored to some degree.
I think he might be a member here...
Perhaps we can keep up with his progress. I've sent him a link to this thread.
