on a budget, looking for a good combo
ok, well im still undecided on the lt1 or carb thing, but i think i know what i would do if i went lt1, so im thinking what i could/ should do if i go carb.
ima start with a running 79 350 with th350 tranny. what kind of heads and cam should i get to produce around 400 horses? im on a budget build and im getting the motor for around 500, and will probably wanna spend no more then another 1000, im just looking for a good combo for some power,

Power is never cheap. You can spend more than necessary, of course, but you will have to spend something.
Here's a pretty good kit http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/2172...former-RPM.htm with upgraded heads, intake, and everything needed to install. You'll still need a cam, a Comp XE274 with lifters & timing set will probably run less than another $200. And a square-bore carb.
But, you'll easily make the 400 HP goal.

your probably looking at 2000, you got to add the carb like 450, and all the other crap you'll need. the only way to get by with less than a grand is with out the heads. id get all the parts taking into account good heads but put the stock ones on until you can afford good ones. or you can save up the money and buy a complete kit.
