TBI to TPI swap
TBI to TPI swap
Ok I have a TPI L98 motor but a buddy of mine on http://www.z28.com is wanting to rebuild the TBI and and he found a complete TPI motor that needs a rebuild and possibly the harness but he is concerned that he would have to swap out the fuel pump. Any info on this would be great. Thanks

The pump will have to be changed, but that's no big deal. Just a few hours of work.

Because the TBI pump doesn't put out enough pressure to suppy the TPI.
If it's a complete TPI system, it will have the right regulator already. The pump doesn't really matter that much, it's whether it can produce enough pressure and flow that determines if it will work.

To elaborate on what Five said a TBI pump will produce no more than 15psi of fuel (lucky if you get 12). This is assuming stock fuel line size. TPI, like any other MPFI system, requires in excess of 45psi. You will need to swap fuel pumps. I would look at the Walbro units. They are cheaper, stronger, and seem to last longer than GM pumps. I had my walbro 255L pump shipped to my door for $97.
