Distributor Position, TPI
Installing a new ZZ4 TPI to replace my 305.
What is the correct position for the distributor for initial startup?
Thanks if you can help.

UM....... OK, well make sure the engine is at top dead center at number one cylinder. When you drop the distributor in make sure the rotor is pointing at the number one cylinder. Then when you put that cap on, try to line up the number one connector on the distributor cap over the rotor. Fire that sucker up ( you may have to rotate the cap by hand to get it to start, not often but happens. If it doesn't start just sputters and stuff you are 180 off.) Get your timing light out, let the motor warm up and set the timing for whatever the spec sheet says. That's about it, good luck.
