Tune Port questions
Tune Port questions
I have a tune port fuel injection system including harness from a 1986 camaro 305. I have a 1986 350 with ported heads and a mild street cam around 9.5:1 compression. I plan on swapping this combination into my 1987 s-10 blazer.
Here are the questions I am having difficulty answering;
Is the esc module the same between 305 & 350? I know the knock sesnor is different but why would esc be?
If the smog pump is not used & disconnected will ses be on?
The dealership sold me a sensor that includes the fuel pump shutoff and the oil pressure gauge in one unit, the originals were seperate. The wire guage does not match up between the new connector and the 86 harness. Is anyone familiar with this and if so, is it a simple cut and splice
I have new 30lb/hr injectors & the stock 86 305 ecu, will it run good enough with the stock prom to get it to a dyno to fine tune & burn a prom?
Any suggestions information or links will be appreciated

The ESC will most likely have to be changed. Check with TPIparts.net, they will help you with anything TPI related. And yes, if you remove the smog pump the SES will most likely come on, BUT you can have the smog pump disabled through a new PROM tune. Not sure about the wiring question, and as for the drive to the dyno---hmmmm, you're running a modified 350 on stock 305 specs. Not sure how the stock 305 MECMAL will perform the 350. You should be ok though, just as its not too far.
You may have to do something about the VATS system also.

I don't get a service engine light with the smog pump removed. I have an '88 350 tuned port setup.

you're lucky then, I had to have mine disabled through prom burning. This was on a 91 L03 engine too. They say speed density cars are need more quirky (is that a word) tuning than MAF cars too.
