For only 260hp, why spend so much? $2000 is way too much in my world! You can get a JY 350 for way less, or a used one from a bargain trader rag. I picked mine up for $700, pan to carb, minus a/c, alt, and p/s pump - and although it has the crappy 70's heads (no worse than the heads on this Jeg's job I'm sure), it was built with dome-top pistions, bringing the compression back up.
Don't know about the particular motor U are looking at, but I know U can swap a sbc 350 (or 400 if U are so bold) in longblock form into what U have and reuse all of your accesories, intake etc. That's a general rule for sbc, they didn't change much till the LT1 . Later 350 heads had the valve cover bolts moved from the flange to the center of the cover, simple enough to use a different set of valve covers. Depending on what level of emmision compliance U need to achieve there may be a question of egr/vs.non-egr, and the question of whether or not U need to keep your "feedback" style computerized quadrajet, or switch to a non-computerized carb. If it is a goodwrench motor then it will have a GM part # which U can price out at any GM parts dept, they should have a better description

Actually,with all that comes with it,I'd say it's a decent buy.Yes,you can go buy a used engine,but it's used.Lord knows how it's been treated.
With this package, you get all new castings,a warranty, and most likely 260hp will be a huge upgrade from what you currently have.I'd say go for it.
