Finally...dropped car off at shop yesterday for a 350 tpi

Been waiting 4 years to do this. Finally the timing was right and I had the money. Bought a rebuilt stock 350 tpi motor to replace the faithful 305. Had close to 200K on the 305. I know its just a stocker 350, but the extra 40hp and 60tq will be more fun to drive.

Amd now I can start considering heads and other things I felt limited on with the 305.

Gotta wait until thursday to get it though. Ahh....Dont know about you guys but I HATE not having my car around. Chomping at the bit to fire it up with the new engine!

How much is it costing you to get it installed (you can PM if you want)? I dream of a 350, but I'm unsure if I can do it in between school, work, and doing the swap on the street .

Had alot of debate with myself about going with headers or aftermarket heads or whatever goodies. But I decided that they just arent in my budget right now. Probably would have been cheaper to have headers installed now, but I'm trying to spread the money I have around the whole car. At this point I'm happy to just get the 5.7L shoved in. But along with the engine, I bought Koni red's x 4, LS1 big brake kit, and a BMR tq arm.

As far as cost goes, I spent $1650 on the engine (which includes core charge and shipping). I spent about $800 on parts necessary for the swap (afpr, remaned injectors, prom, knock sensor, new exhaust manifolds, gaskets, flexplate, harmonic balancer). Probably about $1000 for labor. So shouldnt be anymore than $3500 when its all said and done.

I budgeted $5000 for everthing, including the suspension/brakes. I may have gone over a little, but it'll be worth it.

That sounds like a nice cost figure for such upgrades in the car. Glad to hear someones car dream comin true. Good luck with it all!
