thinking of swapping
thinking of swapping
i'm thinking of swapping my 305 tpi to a 350 carbureted. the car is an 85 trans am, with a 91 305 block, and i believe everything else on the engine is from the 85, including the wiring harness. i work on 88 millioin dollar airplanes, but when it comes to auto maintenance, i get lost pretty easily due to lack of working on them. is this swap going to be a huge undertaking? can an everyday average mechanic do it by following books, or would i be better off paying someone to do it, and on average what would i expect to pay to have this done? thanks in advance for any info/advice.

if you know your way around wrenches (sounds like you do), you should be fine.
Grab a few manuals, do a few searches on here, and you'll be set. You'll be ditching computer controls, so that simplifies part of the wiring setup when you're done. Take your time.
are you just doing the swap, or building the motor as well? ie, are you buying the 350 pre-built?
