The heads bolt to the block the same way, exhaust ports are the same, and '87-up TPI heads use the same valve covers as Vortecs. 350 TPI heads and Vortec heads use the same size valves.
But, Vortecs are truck heads. They just happen to flow well and the chambers are efficient for good combustion when used on Gen I SBC applications. However, the intake port location and bolt pattern are different, so you need to use an intake manifold/base made for Vortec heads in order to use Vortec heads. Vortec intake manifolds are available for carb, TPI, and TBI applications. As made, the Vortec have truck-type valve springs, which is their biggest limitation - but also fairly easy to fix.
There are people that sell Vortec heads with what they call "dual bolt patterns". Don't believe it. If you can't spring for a Vortec intake/base, you can't afford Vortec heads.

If you add the price of the Vortec heads to the new valve springs and the new intake, you may see that you can get a different set of heads for the same price!
Of course if you score those Vortecs on a "deal" then you may still be okay!!
Good luck!!
