Engine: 80-84 305 carbed
Transmission: TH350
Axle/Gears: posi w/ disk breaks
carbed capriece classic 85-86 305 into 87 GTA
Think I found an engine and trans for the 87 GTA I just got.
Ive found an 85-86 chevy capriece classic with a carbed 305 with 69,000 original miles. car looks like crap, but the engine and trans dont show any signs of leaking and the oil in it doesnt smell burned. was last started in febuary and I was told it ran good. Is an old mans car and he has been the only owner.
The GTA didnt come to me with an engine or trans. factory it had the TPI 350.
I know the question is a little vague but what do I need to know to get this 305 to work? what wires do I need from the factory harness for the distributer and coil? can I just pull the factory computer from the GTA or will it be needed for any thing? Id like the factory gauges to work if possable in the end.
I know the trans in the capriece is only a 3 spd but will it bolt in and work ok in the gta? I have the GTA's drive shaft and it has the positrack rear end with disk breaks. Ive already checked and know the GTA and the capriece used the same multi fan belt set up and both had the ac compressor on the drivers side so I shouldnt have a problem with that.
what do I need to do in the sence of fuel pump? is there any way to just by pass the factory in tank fp on the GTA?
