Looking to get rid of my 3.1 V6 and have a guy locally selling his 5.7L L31 vortec stock rotating assembly for $50obo. I trust the engine is good and useable as the seller is one of the owners of Texas Speed (a local high performance shop geared towards LS1 performance).

Is the L31 worth doing? and how hard would the swap be into my camaro? any write-ups on it?

he's selling just the rotating assembly? you'd need a whole engine, and if you do the swap you need to swap the tranny and engine mounts and probably a couple other small things too. not easy but i'd say it's worth it

 

Yes, I know I am going to need the rest of the engine and I know the steps to swap in the 350 TPI engine.

I thought it might be worth it since I am getting the rotating assembly for $50

yeah the vortecs are really good engines, and if you have the money and can do the whole swap it would definitely be worth it, i have a friend with a 5.7 vortec in his camaro and the thing is a beast!

I think my main concern is with the electrical side of the swap and how it will all work with the original gauges and such.

i don't have any experience with engine swaps so i don't know abything about the wiring aspect of things but if worst comes to worst just use mechanical gauges

 

how much for the rotating assembly shipped to 49201 i am really interested
