Put zz4 crate motor in 2.8 Firebird
How hard will it be to convert a 2.8 to zz4 crate motor. I have read the stinky already. Has anyone done it

You're doing a V6 to V8 swap. The V8 just happens to be a ZZ4. No biggie. In fact, the factory put out a kit with a ZZ4 in it for 3rd gens (but already with V8), so it's not that big a thing.
Mine is basically a ZZ4 clone.

It's easy if you go with a carb. You'll want to reprogram the ECU so it doesnt throw SES lights all the time.
You'll also need a bracket to adapt your automatic to the carb. I recommend the setup at bowtieoverdrives.com
I swapped the ZZ4 crate into my original V8 TBI car. We installed the engine and were breaking it in within one weekend. The main things you'll have to worry about are the accessories brackets and the engine mounts. There is also some rewiring that needs to be done.

What induction do you plan on running?
Plan on changing the clutch, bellhousing, and transmission.

i think the adapter is the BOP v-8 trans boltpattern to chevy v-8. thats not what you need. you have a v-6 trans and you need a v-8 trans. i dont have a manual so i dont know if you can just swap bellhousings. im guessing it wont last long anyway.

I've heard the manual V6 trannies have a smaller/fewer spline input shaft than the V8 versions, but never that it was a different length. Several members have used the V6 manual tranny with a V8 bellhousing on a V8, but nobody would argue it is ideal.
