Question about engine swap

I'm currently instaling a 350 crate from a pickup truck into my 88 camaro that had a 305 in it. I wonder iof there is anyone with any suggestions for the two problems I have encountered?

The oil dipstick is one the passenger side on a 305. The oil dipstick will not fit from the 350 with the 305 exhaust manifod. I will try and use the one from my truck. If the pipe that bolts to the exhaust manifold won't bolt up, I will have to take it to a muffler shop to have the a new pipe made up.

I still haven't cranked it yet. I'm having an electrical problem that I'm trying to troubleshoot. I have everything hooked up, but everything is dead as a doornail. Any suggestions on this or the oil dipstick problem?

The best solution to the dipstick issue is to install headers. That will also improve your exhaust system. If this is a TBI car, then your exhaust is really going to choke a 350, anyway.

If you still want to do the 305 manifolds, then either carefully bend and route the 350 dipstick to clear the manifold, or get a Lokar flexible dipstick.

If you don't have any power to anything, then you probably left the accessory power wire off of the starter where it mounts with the battery cable.

Thanks for the response. I found the electrical problem. I knew it was something simple. When I went back out during the daylight hours I traced the cable back from the battery and sure enough the cable that goes to the starter was folded round and hidden.

I have the set of headers that used to be on that 350 when it was in the truck. I wonder if they will fit in the camaro?

Most likely they will not. But, you can always try.
