89 305 to a 86 350, what parts are interchangable?

Just wondering if my Brand new dist., intake manifold, Vortec 305 heads, and starter for my old 305 will work on my new 350?

What about the 89 T5 tranny?

FYI, Im swapping the 305 out of my 88 Mazda Rx7

I figured I would come to you guys, the experts!

Any benefit to using the Vortec 305 heads on the 350?

I'm no expert on the 305 Vortecs, but from what I understand, they are not all created equal. How well they work depends on which ones they are and what has been done to them. Most likely, they will work better than factory swirl port or the typical truck 350 head.

How much power you'll make depends upon the details of the heads, and what cam you use.

Thanks, I have a 305 Lunati cam sitting next to my car that I never had put in, I guess I need to return that and get one for a 350 now.

? What 305 cam is that? A roller cam? It's not specific to the 305, and you might be able to use it (if it's a flat tappet cam).

You'll need a flat tappet cam with that 350. Watch the compression ratio, the vortec 305's probably have a smaller combustion chamber than what was on the 350. Just something to take note of.
