Crate engine for 87 z28?
does anyone know where i can find a 350 crate engine for my car? i would like to swap my tpi setup over to the 350 ( i have a 305 but i already know what needs to be done for the conversion), but every crate i find says it is not to be used for fuel injection

How much engine work are you willing to do?
What goals/usage do you have planned for the car?

im willing to do however much i need to do, but i would like do as little work as possible to the engine, basically i want it to be an everyday driver that has some ***** about it,
i do plan on restoring most of the car (exterior and interior) to stock, ( new headliner and weather stirps for the t-tops, and fix the doors and windows ( passengr side door only opens from the inside and both windows roll up extremely slow) and give it a paint job. only performance things i plan to do is the engine swap, install rear disc brakes, and maybey lower it an inch

Okay, that's a good start.
What I would suggest is a 350 shortblock and use your 305 heads. There are all sorts of things you could do to get there, but the simplest would be to buy a new shortblock and simply put your 305 stuff on it (with a few minor 350 items such as injectors, knock sensor, and PROM). The GM L31 shortblock is a very good part http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/514/...e-Assembly.htm , and everything it doesn't have will transfer over from your 305. Compression will be in the 9.7 range with 58cc heads.
You could do a cam upgrade while you're at it, or stick with the 305 cam you have now. The heads could be used as-is, but they would do a lot better with 1.94" intake valves installed and some basic porting in the port valve bowl area. New valve springs are always a smart upgrade, but with the stock cam, aren't necessary.
If that's too much work for you, then this longblock http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/123/...R-U-L0557K.htm will bolt right in (with the aforementioned 350-specific parts). It will give you stock-like 350 performance, but the heads hold it back for much more than that.

as he said you are not gaining anything by getting the long block because you are going to want to use your 305 heads to use the stock injection. so no.

i was just thinking new heads would be better than mine because they have to have well over 148,000 miles on them, but the odometer stopped rotating at a little over 147,900 miles, and my uncle said it stopped counting 5 or 6 years ago

As long as the heads aren't cracked, there isn't anything that can't be fixed with a rebuild (and even cracks can be fixed). And, they'd still be better money spent than those Goodwrench crate heads.
