my buddy's 86 camaro might have thrown a rod on the 305 the other day and if the motors cooked he might go 350.

now there is that lil matter of money, my buddy is 17 and doesnt have a whole lot of money to dump into the car and is just learning about the whole car/thirdgen aswell.

I'm helping him with it because I know a pretty good amount about it. I told him to go 350 out of like a suburban or something and then mod it as he goes. I figure the driveline should hold. good idea?

its an 86 sport coupe with the 305

what would you do?

 

I'd be looking at 350s and reading lots of threads on how to swap and what other costs involved with the swap are.

 

What makes you think the 305 has thrown a rod?

 

Even a 400 with some junkyard 350 heads can go in for not too much money.
