putting an sbc in a 4th gen?

found a 4th gen t/a that is just pertty as can be... no engine or trans though so i was thinking i could swap in my 355 and 700r4 till i can build a nice lt1 for her... question is will the engine and trans just bolt into place or are the lt1 motor mounts diffrent???

this is a third gen forum

i believe thgere is not enough clearance in a 4th gen for a carbed motor, look how the cowl area covers alot of the motor

It can be done. It has been done. Look on fourth gen sites. I have seen alot of weird GEN I motors in 4th gens.

ls1tech wasnt much help but ill check some of the other 4th gen sites.. im thinking it will work though... might have to change the intake to something low enough to clear the stock hood. i doubt id be able to get an open element in thier but maybe some kind of cai...

The people on here are much more helpful and generally nicer than other boards. That's what attracts questions like this.

i totaly understand and hope i didnt come off souning like a jerk. www.camaroz28.com may also have some information. i am guessing a cai setup is probobly the best way to go. i THINK some 80s cadilacs may also have a stock intake system that could provide usefull parts
