Question about 1990 TPI Formula 350 Intake manifold

I need to replace my intake manifold in my 1990 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350, 5.7, with TPI. I took it to Firestone and we looked everywhere for one that was even used, and I can not find any, anywhere. I dont know much about vehicles, but enough to get me by. I know it has the split port, but cant seem to find anything for it. I found one new, but it was like 1400.00 alone. I thought it was a little steep. Can anyone point me in the right direction, and also, I know this may be a stupid question, but does anyone know of a parts place that has a layaway plan, preffably online or in Columbus,Ohio?

Thanks,
Jake

you can find the bottom intake on e-bay all day long for around $50. make sure it's for later f-bodies.

I saw them on e-bay. I need the upper, where the thermostat housing rests on.

you might have to buy a complete tpi set-up, use what you need and sell the rest. There is the upper plenum(where the throttle body bolts on to),the runners, and the botton intake(where the thermostat is).

Why do you think you need to replace your intake?

The only special payment arrangement I know of for parts is the "easy payment plan". It works like this:

Make one easy payment, then after that they plan to give you the parts.

In other words, looking for anybody to do a "layaway" arrangement for car parts is basically futile.

Why would you want that anyway? You can be saving up your pennies BEFORE you order it, at exactly the same rate as you can save them AFTER you order it. Which is of course why no one in the parts business does that; it costs THEM something, meaning they would have to raise the price TO THE BUYER, which most buyers are smart enough to figure out is a stupid arrangement, to pay extra and still get the same thing in the end.

But that's all kind fo secondary to the main issue. Intakes don't often "go bad". What's REALLY wrong with your car? i.e., what is it doing, that replacing the intake is the only possible repair? We need something more than "my mechanic said I need one".
