305 TPI to 350 carb

my 305 TPI has 194000 miles on it and is in need of a rebuild badly. it's got a blown headgasket and smokes alot. been driving it like that for 3 weeks now. i am sure there has been damage to the head most likely because of having to drive it like that. I don't have the time to rebuild it so i have been looking to replace it. being my daily driver i don't want to take the car off the road for too long. so i have decided that a long block would be the quickest way of doing that within a budget. so for a few extra dollars i am gonna get a 350 longblock instead of another 305. anyone know of any good deals on engines? also anyone recommend any carb or intake manifold in particular? thanks.

I your going Carb you will need a lot more than carb and intake you need to look into a distributor, Torque converter lock up switch and for a intake either edelbrock or weiand and for a non cc carb for a daily dirver I would say holley or edelbrock. And how are the inspection laws in florida some states wont let the car pass if the setup isnt orginally came with the car.

florida has no vehicle inspections, smog laws, or any other restrections on what can be done to the car. with the exception that it must have the proper color lights, no neons unless the car is parked. then they are ok. thanks for your reply. i looked into those things on summit but didn't think about the lockup switch. i was thinking if i left in the old computer it would handle the lockup. now i know better. thanks.
