Vin codes?

Hello,

Which vin codes has the 350 gone under in GM cars? I know P and S and i think there may be more. Thanks for the help

wait, so the actual number 8 is used as a code, or is it the 8th digit in the number that is where the engine letter/number is?

just chevy. I'm going to a u-pull yard tomorrow and if the two engines my buddy told me about arent there i'm gonna go hunting through other cars. i have a buddy at my house who'll plug the vins into decoders and i was thinking if i memorized the V8 codes i could circumvent that step altogether.
