i really dont know how much it would cost. i'm not even 100% positive it willl work with others. i have heard that t56 can be adapted to a mustang so i would guess there may be a way to adapt a stang trans to a sbc, but why bother, it would end up being more expensive and more complicated than just getting a standard chevy trans, if you want a stick get either a chevy WC t-5 or a t-56 its up to your budget, either one will work the later would be stronger but more $$$

The transmission will work, if you have the Chevy bellhousing. A T5 is a T5 just the bellhousings are different and input shafts. The ones in the Mustangs aren't any better than the ones in the Camaros/Trans Ams.
I like my T56, close ratio and the .50:1 6th gear is nice it lets you run lower gears than you could with the T5 and maintain some gas milage.

The Ford and GM T-5s are EXACTLY the same inside, but COMPLETELY DIFFERENT on the outside.

The Ford transmission has a different bolt pattern at the bell housing from a GM; different splines and length of the clutch gear (a manual trans doesn't have an "input shaft"); different splines on the mainshaft for the drive shaft; different diameter of the hole in the back of the extension housing for the yoke; different shifter location; isn't rotated 18° like it needs to be for one of these cars; has a different trans mount pad; .... maybe one or 2 other things. Those minor details are just the top-of-mind ones.
On the other hand, once you get INSIDE the case, everything is pretty much the same. All this monkey-spank about how much stronger the Mustang T-5 is, is just that... monkey-spank. The shafts are the same diameter and spaced the same distance apart meaning the gears are the same size; the bearings are identical; the materials are the same; and so on. Internally, the only difference is the gear ratios. Ford ordered theirs with ratios alot like the 6-cyl GMs got.
So, NO, it will not fit or bolt up, without some significant "adapting"; and the amount of money required to make it work, is FAR in excess of the cost of just buying the right thing in the first place.
Do a little research yourself. Troll around on eBay a little maybe, and look at the pics of the 2 things. Stop by your local buzzard this weekend. Put a little effort into it. Won't take much... I think it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Could be...
The official name of the part with the splines for the clutch disc, as detailed above, is "clutch gear". Automatic transmissions have an "input shaft". Can't think of any type of transmission that has an "imput shaft".
