Help

Hello.Ive been lurking here for about a month and learned some seriously invalueable info.Heres the story. The wife has an 89 trans am, was a 305,and it commited hari kari upon the highway.bought a 94 non roller 350 tbi...and swapped it over.finally got it running the other night, and then it struck me.when i did the swap, the 305 injectors are still in it.it seems to run ok....but i havnt takin it down the road yet.will the injectors work for a bit, till i have more cash in the budget,or must it remain in the garage.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Help

305 injectors should work fine. they should be the 19lb injectors thats all you need for a stock motor.

Re: Help

Thank you thank you thank you.I will replace them as soon as i get a chance.......but it is good to know that she can have her car back.now if those damm exhaust donuts would get here.being in idaho really sucks.sometimes.But ...no emissions laws.*L*btw will a hypertech chip with a mild tune help with the injectors....or make it worse.

Re: Help

no chip or tuneing is gonna make the injectors flow more only buying bigger injectors will do that. but are you sure you need bigger injectors? on a stock motor there is no need. if you have a lot of mods then upgradeing to some bigger injecors can help, is the motor running poorly?

Re: Help

No,the motor is actually running well.currently working on valve lash.....pain in the ***.I was just concerned about a lean condition.I do know that the 350 injectors are a bit bigger. As for the chip....its a mild tune for a stock 350.i just happened to get a good deal on it.

Re: Help

well if its running fine i wouldn't worry about the injectors. there are other things you can concentrate your efforts on to get it tuned to your liking

Re: Help

The injectors will be too small. Chances are, it'll run more or less OK just driving down the road, once it makes it into closed loop; but it'll be WAY down on power at WOT and might not run hardly at all in open loop.

Just go to the junkyard and get the TB off of a truck or Caprice 350. They're super cheeep, plentiful, and easy to swap. No point in even worrying about the 305 crap and whether it'll work.

Re: Help

tpi setup
Ahh.... I see.... that part must be written in the white space up there somewhere.

In that case, get some 350 TPI injectors instead. You can pick them up all the time used for super cheeep on eBay, and on this site's classifieds.

Re: Help

I think what cool84 meant was that a 350TBI non roller motor isn't exactly a high performance beast. It'd be about the same ballpark as your TPI 305 as far as output, so your TPI injectors should be ok as far as size.
But to be perfectly correct, might as well find some 350 sized ones. 22lb/hr are they?
