1992 Camaro RS 305 TBI to ZZ4?

Hi there.
First let me start off saying, this is my first poost on this board, and id like to say this site is very useful. I bought a 1992 RS about...1.5 months ago...and i love it. But itt has 200k+ miles..and its the original L03 TBI...so its crying for a new home and some love!

My question..and feel free to flame me, ive tried searching but im not getting clear answers...

Can i put a ZZ4(i might buy a shortblock and build it up..but none the less) into my 92 305 Camaro RS WITH an Automatic!?

We had planned to scrap the TBI...and go with Carb. Thats the biggest problem. I do not know if the automatic transmission can work with a carburator...because i would be getting rid of the ECU all together yea?

Its giving me a headache haha..ill try searching more, but its killng me.

I understand this much

I could buy a ZZ4, The current Transmission has to be replaced with the racing 700r4....and id have to get the engine in their and everything. Im just not sure how to handle the conversion. TPI..Carb...i dont want to leave TBI. I have no problem with TPI if thats the only way to keep it Automatic...we do not want to do a manual conversion (unfortunately).

I really would love clarification....and again i admit..im a dumbass so feel free to flame.

Thanks, i just want my car to run fast and clean, without paying 10,000$ to a mechanic.

its got a very good frame, and it runs. That was my goal.
I love it, and i mean, the guy sold it to me with new brakes(600$), new tires(600$) ...but we were hoping to ...well....bring it back to its prime

I expect to spend a decent ammount of $$...but everything in it works..and its got a good maintence record...but the rearend,tranny, and engine i know are crying

Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
I'd suggest you go to the TBI forum and read the sticky about a budget 350. That has all the capability of producing the power the ZZ4 would. And, you could retain your TBI.

If you did go with the ZZ4, everything there would apply, you'd just use a "standard" SBC intake manifold.
