350 engine swap starting tomorrow
350 engine swap starting tomorrow
I Finally got enough cash together to get my 350 in my camaro i am also getting the 350 turbo trans in the car also. The main questions i have are:
1. Should i keep the 700r4 because better gas mileage and throw a shift kit in it or should i go with the 350 turbo and why should i go with the 350 turbo? Also will fit me an easy trans swap or would i ahve to change/modify a few things if i do use the 350 turbo
2.Also whats the base horsepower out of the 350 quadrajet carb.
3.The engine is used but it comes out of a van and is in good condition, this is my 1st time doing this so with the old engine out and before i put the 350 in what are some things i should buy/do for the new engine before i drop it in...i am a rookie at this and i thank you guys for all your help...may god bless you all

Depending on the mileage on the 350 engine, you may need to invest some $ to make sure the engine is sound. Replace all the gaskets on the engine now sinc eht engine will be out.
Keep the 700r4 tranny. OD comes in handy especially with the gas prices. You can beef up the tranny with shift kits.
HP on the 350 depends on the cam/head/intake manifold you are going to use. The engine from the van will be well below the 200 HP.
My advice if your Camaro is still running, hold off on installing the 350. Take the engine completely apart and have it inspected. Ask yourself how much HP do I want from his engine then research the parts needed to get the HP you want.
