should i buy this 350 4 my v6 swap

ok i have a v6 in my 83 cutty and i want to swap to a
350. this guy can sell his to me for $200. what do
you guys think, should i get it or not...is it worth
it and can i just drop it in my cutty. i have a 350
tranny i can get but i need to know about this engine.
here is his add.

i have a running chevy 350 that im going to have to
part with due to finances. this is a low milage motor.
i cannot sell the intake/carb but this motor is nearly
complete! all you need is a new water pump, intake &
carb to make this baby purr down the road in your next
hot rod!

the engine was painted green/black because it was
going to be used in a hot rod that ive set aside! this
motor has been run recently and i can assure you would
fire up without a problem!! this motor runs like a
dream!!

***this motor does not have the chrome valve covers
installed that are in the picture. instead it has
stock looking black ones***

i sent him a eamil that said this.

do you have more info on engine suck as cam specs
and
year. what car did you pull it out of and what type of
carb do you have on it now. i know your not selling
the intake/carb in pic but i wanna know. im tryin to
use this for a v6 swap!!!!

this was his email reply
it came out of a 73 chevy truck, all stock
cam/internals. low miles, new head gaskets, points
distributor. it was running an aluminum edelbrock
intake and edelbrock 600cfm carb before i took them
off.

click the link to see a picture of the engine im talkin
about.

Re: should i buy this 350 4 my v6 swap

i think he can "play you" if he wants, he is a mod. im sure the motor will fit in, you will probably need v8 motor mounts and a trans that will bolt to it. your accessories will probably not all, if any fit, and forget about passing emissions. and a 98 is a 4th gen so its still the wrong site, so dont be surprised if this get locked.

or make things simple. sell the cutty and buy a third gen.

We're cool as long as it relates to what members do to 3rd gens. If you have to post a bunch of threads about engine mounts and radiator hoses (for instance), I'll have to draw the line there. If you talk about how to build the 350, that's cool.

I talk about my 396 here because a lot of members have put BBC's in their 3rd gens. That's the accepted standard for thirdgen.org - it has to be 3rd gen "related".

Re: should i buy this 350 4 my v6 swap

Yea, unfortunately there probably aren't a lot of good forums for that type of car, since it doesn't have the performance following that the third gen has. I can understand seeking another forum that has people that might be able to help you out. I wish there was a forum for my Delta 88 back in the day... So general 350 chev stuff we can probably help you with, but any chassis specific info, I think you're on your own. There is a member here, 80smetalfan I think, he just started a thread about a knocking 350 IIRC. He's got a cutlass with a 350, and I think he put it in, maybe he can help you a bit with chassis specific stuff, or point you to a forum that would be able to help.

But yea, 86TA is right, motor mounts, tranny, and all accessories. You might need a different length driveshaft, but that's more related to the tranny swap that you'll have to do One thing always leads to another.
On a seperate note, that motor is worth $200 and no more. Stock cam and heads means it'll be sluggish, a 170HP wonder. But it is a good base to build on, certainly better than hopping up a 3.8L V6. I hope you plan to throw some performance parts on it before it goes into your car? It's a lot easier to work on when it's not in the car eh? Cam and heads would really make it fun.

haha, five7kid was playing wit-chu... playa-hater! "kid" is kinda misleading there...
