87 up 350 swap
i have an 82 z28, and im looking to do a 350 swap. what im wondering is will a 87-up 350, with the one piece rear main seal fit with my tranny (an 83-86 t5) also can i use a 86 back top end? the only reason im looking at this engine is because its free. thanks for the help.

The only difference between a 2-piece rear main seal SBC and a 1-piece rear main seal SBC as far as the transmission is concerned is the flywheel. Get one for '86-up 3rd gen V8 and you'll be fine.
Ditto on the heads. No difference between '86-earlier and '87-later as far as the way the heads bolt to the block.
What did the engine come out of? Do you have casting #'s for the block & heads?

the heads are off of an 83-86 305. the engine is from an 88 van. so all i need for the tranny to work is a newer flywheel? are the motor mounts there, and will it accept a mechanical fuel pump?

Your '82 mounts will work. The mechanical pump should mount up.
