No, you couldn't just "drop it in".

If it was a C30 400, then you could.

There aren't many things that "can't" be done (there's a guy that's putting an Allison V12 in his Mustang, for instance), but there are a bunch of things that just "shouldn't" be done.

Yeah it could be done but why waste the time and money. It cost alot to build those FE motors, and parts are really hard to find. It would be better suited for a mustang or some kind of truck. Is it a 351/400 modified? You could always find a cheap Maverick and shoehorn it into that thing. LOL

It won't be an FE if its a '79 motor. They stopped making FE's in '75 IIRC. And there was no 400ci FE anyway... only 331, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 406, 427 and 428.

If its a 400, its a 400M, which is derived (sorta) from the 351 Cleveland engines. Its a turd that can't be polished - theres no aftermarket for the 400M.

Pretty much a tall-deck 351 Cleveland. Sort of the red-headed stepchild of the Ford world.

My bad, I dont know what I was thinking. I guess I was thinking of my buddies 63 f100 with the 390 we were gonna put in it. But we caught hell finding parts for it. Its been so long since I worked on a old ford like that. I guess I had a brain fart. LOL
