85 Iroc with 305 carbed, tell me if this is a good deal
I'm young and I'm looking for my 1st camaro! I've wanted a third gen camaro since before I was born 86 haha. I've been thinking of getting one and doing an engine swap or finding one for around $5k or less. Then I came across this one locally, except im not a big engine guy and I don't know half of the things about this car that are listed. I've never owned a carbed car, so I was hoping someone could tell me if this is a great deal or if not. please check it out:

Not a good car for the inexperienced, especially not if it needs to be dependable transportation...
Has a few good parts, and ALOT of expensive junk. Looks like something somebody put together thinking he was making a race car. Likely to cause ALOT LOT LOT of continuous, aggravating, hard-to-diagnose hassles.
I think you should keep looking. Unless of course you're looking for strictly a "project" race-only car, and not transportation of any kind.

Well, I'm deffinitly not looking for a daily driver, i have a cavalier for that haha. but, im not looking for an all-out race car either. I'm basically looking for something in between. I just really wanna fix up a 85-92, put nice wheels on it, good suspension, new paint, and (preferably) low mileage engine with some power. Thoughts?

Gotta agree with Sofa. All that on a 305 - pearls on a swine.
$4500? Well, the air cleaner on it is worth about $150. Would be worth more if the hoses and scoops were there as well.
Nice transmission.
I wouldn't say the money in it doesn't justify the $4500 price, but I would say it's not a well put-together package. If all of that was wrapped around a 383, then you might have something. Still a lot of unjustifiable stuff there (like the roll cage and 5-point harness).
Do you have emissions inspection or testing to go through?
(Too bad the lister can't spell "Camaro". . .)

Re: 85 Iroc with 305 carbed, tell me if this is a good deal
So if im looking for basically a cruiser to take to car shows and drive maybe once or twice a week, should I just look to get a low mileage 305 and do bolt ons? (exhaust cat headers shifter)? I don't need a race car, but would deffinitly like something that people go wow that must be fasttt, and that I would have a lot of fun driving. So is the 305 good enough?
