swap problems
OK i just finished putting in a 355. The motor was already run for lets say 500 miles so it isnt new, but pretty close. It has aluminum vette heads and i put a HSR on it. My car is a 5 speed also just so you know. The first problem was the motor wouldnt fire. I checked everything and then started pulling new stuff off to see what was wrong. I ended up pulling out the new chip after 2 days of not starting an d put the stock one in. The car fired up right away
. (The chip was from PCMForless but i will not give them bad feedback because they havent had an oppertunity to make it right yet(they are not open on the weekends)) So the cam is like a 503/510 lift with 224/230 duration but it has 1.6 rockers making it like 536/543 (about). It is a very healthy cam for the setup but i didnt think it was so radical that i couldnt run power brakes. I went to drive it last night and whenever i came to a stop the car would die. so thats the first problem and the secound problema and the more important problem is timeing. What should i put it at. i had the timing at 18* advance at idle without the wire plugged in for the computer advance and the motor started and ran good but when i plugged in the computer it ran like **** again. Of anyone could give me an idea of what to put this thing at it would be a great help. I am thinking that it is possible the timing could be the whole problem but i am not sure.

The timing won't be the problem with the chip not firing.
18 degrees is way too much. Start with 6 and see what happens.

Re: swap problems
Car got sent to a close friend in Long Island yesterday to get tuned. I finally got it running and driveable but it still needs to be tuned. The car may also be heading to Carmen (I think he owns VEtte doctors) to get tuned on the dyno there. thanks for all the help guys.
