Engine: 5.7L Vortec w/ LT4 Hot cam
Transmission: 700r4 transgo shiftkit 2600 stall
Axle/Gears: 3.42 '02 SS 6 spd rear
5.3L swap?
has anyone done a 5.3L truck engine swap into a thirdgen????

yeah i know i was just curious if anyone has done it cause they are relatively cheaper then the 5.7

I would love to have the 5.3 out of my truck in my 91 rs. I'm suprised no one has posted something like this more often.

It's all the same install whether or not if it's a 5.3, 5.7 or 6.0 both the 5.3 and 6.0 will need the F-body oil pan, do a search on the LTx-LSx board, several have done it already.

are the 5.3L truck engines same bore and stroke as the old 327? coz if they were that would be one hell of a screamer if setup rite.

The 5.3 has a 3.77 in bore and a 3.62 in stroke (96.01 mm bore and 92.00 mm stroke) to make roughly a 325 ci engine (5328cc).

got it in my 87 trans am gta, its an 02 5.3 out of an avalanche, had to change the accessories and the intake so that it would fit. besides that looks just like an ls1 except for the cast ion block and the 4.8/5.3 stamped on the front of the block
