kinda of a moter ????
i have a 88 iroc 305 5 speed do i have to drop the trans to take the moter out or can i leave it in thar

No. You can leave the trans attached to the motor and pull the setup as one unit. Be sure to remove the shifter from the trans via the four bolts that can be accessed through the center console.

Or, you can support the trans, disconnect the engine from it, and pull just the engine.
