Welcome to the thirdgen.org family.
There is a "sticky" in the top section of this forum about switching from a V6 to a V8. A 283 will have some additional issues, but understand the basics of the V6 to V8 swap first.
There are some things to do to reduce the problems and time required (read: "donor car"). But, it's a task, even for the experienced - there's no such thing as a "bolt in", and it certainly doesn't apply here.

Re: need help plz
ok ive read the sticky above and it was very helpful to an extent, it appears that this build is going to take some time. but as for a donor car u mention, im pretty sure right now thats outa the question. only reason i have a 283 is cuz my buddy gave it to me and said "this will make ur ride what u want it to be". and since i see this being a longer project than i originaly expected is there any problems i should expect out of a 3.1 with 115k miles on it?

The 3.1's are better than the previous 2.8's. Just take care of the maintenance.
The engine is the least of the issues in a V6 to V8 swap. In fact, the 283 just makes it more difficult - assuming it still has stock heads, there aren't any mounting holes for accessories, they aren't made for unleaded gas, and the block will have the dipstick on the wrong side. With just the engine, you don't have any of the stuff needed to actually put it in the car - a far cry from making it what you want it to be.
