305 - 350 swap! ! !

Okay fellas I did an engine swap from a 305 to a 350. the 350 was running b4 i put it in my iroc, it came out my other iroc that i trashed. Well, here is my problem: I have spark but no injector pulse. Does anyone have any idea as to why? My 305 just up and stopped running on me one day so i swapped the motor come to find out my 305 is still in running condition. I think it may be a computer problem, but not for sure. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? If so I would be soo sooo soooo grateful. Many many thanks in advance guys!

Bad fuel pump? Did you check fuel pressure?

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

Could be something simple like just the wiring got bad or something costly like a new ECM.

If you have fuel pressure... and every single injector hasn't gone bad... then one of the above would be my guess.

Also check the power plugs running to the injectors... maybe a bad connection there too.

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

you have two injector fuses the feed power to the injectors. you can check real quick at the fuse block and you can unplug an injector connector and see if you have 12v on one side with the key on.

then we will go from there

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

my 85 trans am was having this problem when i first started my engine swap. I ended up swapping the whole distributor, but specifically it was a problem with the ingnition module, and the terminal module to the electric package (in other words, the module that pigtails to the ECM) after that swap, my problem went away. (only to lead to others, but that's a different story)

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

yes i kept my 305 distributor. but i thought since its a msd it wouldnt make much of a difference.so should i replace it, i found a reman comp for $70 and a guy on here has one i can buy from him for $40, i just dont wanna waste money. I started this project when i had only one kid now i have another on the way due here in dec.

Nothing wrong with the motor it only has 5k on it. i bought the crate motor straight from summit. then i chaged/upgraded some parts. the motor ran fine when it was carbed, but i want it to be tpi.

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

the distributer is an MSD? then just replace the moduel in it. make sure to use dialectric greese on the new one.

Re: 305 - 350 swap! ! !

is this the distributor you were using with it when it was carbed? if so, you probably need to swap it. check the ignition module. should be either a 7 or 8 pin module (not sure which the camaro uses, the trans am was a 7 pin). If it's the distributor from a carbed engine, it probably has the 4 pin module, with no ECM hookup. which is probably causing your problem.
