i need an answer quickly if possible...moving to florida friday...lol
ok....here is the issue....my car is an 84......i transplanted a 91 305 tpi motor in the car....the motor is now set up for carb...now the issue i just stumbled upon is the alternator.....the 84 95 amp alternator has a plastic white connector that plugs into the rear with a main brown wire and a red one coming out to the rear where the nut fastens it....the 91 alternator is different plug and the same brown wire and a red one just like that.....how do i make this work....does it work just like the older style or do i need to do something special with this .....if anyone can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it!!

if the 91 alt has the same color and size wires just a different shape connector then splice the wires to there matching set.

brown wire is for the gauge/idiot light red is your reference signal (it's what turns on the alternator) if my memory is correct

Most auto electric stores actually sell an adapter plug for about 5 bucks. Ask around and find the shop that still rebuilds starters and alternators for farmers and truckers. They usually have the plugs in stock.

ok according to chiltons.
on the 84 the brown goes to your gauge, the small red goes to the junction block, and the large red goes to the batt + terminal(possibly at starter)
on th 91 the brown goes to gauge, the small red goes to junction block, the large black/red goes thru starter to batt + terminal.
