lt4

i know this is the 3rd gen site but i have a 95 firebird with an lt1 and im gonna be parking it this winter and i wanna rebuild the motor, ive seen the lt4 kit advertised to make 430 horse.. anyone ever used this kit on a basicall stock lt1? does it really make 430 horse?> i have headers and exhaust thats about it and a cold air kit.. i wanne get the rebuild kit from summit with forged pistons or possibly a complete rotating assy. like the 383 kit from eagle.. would just any 1 piece rear main kit work for my lt1? and also maybe somewhere down the road after the 383 and lt4 kits maybe a super charger from vortech.. could my stock rods and crank take all that? with forged pistions of corse... and also is there a better package than the lt4 kit for basically the same price? like maaybe a set of afr heads and the edelbrock manifold and a different cam? im looking for all the info on this motor i can get and how to get the most power out of it... thanks guys!

Re: lt4

You might have better luck over at www.camaroz28.com as that is a 4thgen site. You'd find much more info on what you want to know there

Re: lt4

i have the lt4 kit and its ok 320 to the wheels but i would rather have, and recomend just stage 3 porting of the lt1 heads for anything thats not a real racecar it would have been money better spent but that was years ago and there are alot of aftermaket heads to chose from as well so do some reserch

Re: lt4

AFR makes some pretty kick *** Gen II (LT1/4) heads - might be worth looking at.

Re: lt4

I think you want stock ported heads/intake for 355, AFR LT4 heads for 383. I dont know though, I've never built a LT1. I'm probably going to get my next LT1 through www.victoryracingengines.com
