Engine removal

1990 RS 305 TBI. Can I pull the motor with the headers on? (Hooker 2055 shorties) Looking at it, it seems possible. What do you think?
On another note, what do you think of using the lift plates that bolt to the top of the manifold? I have a aluminum manifold on my new motor and don't want to chance messing it up. Any opinions appreciated.

Pulled once and installed twice with the headers installed. Have to remove the y-pipe, of course.

I've never used a lift plate, but from what I've heard, it isn't a problem even with an aluminum manifold. Just make sure you use long enough bolts. Personally, I'll probably stick to putting bolts in the head ends.

Re: Engine removal

That's the way I'm leaning, but if the lift plate method is safe it looks like it would give a great point to lift from.
