Carb to CFI- Fuel Pump?

I swapped a Crossfire into a 83 camaro that was originally carbourated(i think). Will the carbourated fuel pump work? I am not getting any fuel to the engine and I cant even hear the fuel pump running when i turn the key on. I checked all the fuses and none are burned out, but the one that says "10 F. Pump" there isn't a fuse or even the prongs for one. I can suck fuel through the line, but will the fuel pump work(even pump) if theres no fuel in the tank but just in the lines?

Another quick question, where does the ground cable go, to the engine or the frame rail? If on the engine, where?

Carb'd cars only had a fuel pump in the tank in the 1987 model year. You need to put that in the car as well. The in-tank pump requires fuel in the tank, it won't push fuel through the line if there isn't anything in the tank.

The negative battery cable bolts to the engine on the bracket underneath the alternator.
