What motor do i have??

This is weird, i got the numbers off of the block and the engine code or whatever its called is V0625CLD and i looked it up and it says its a 77' 350. But right under it is part of the vin and it is 1ML197731, which is a 91' camaro 305. The only thing i can think of is maybe whoever did this swap engraved that vin on there because the engine code looks more authentic than the vin. Any ideas???

Here is what I came up with on youre suffix code.

CLD 73 350 Corvette 250 L-82 T-H 400 4-Brl
CLD 74 350 Corvette 250 L-82 T-H 400 4-Brl
CLD 77 350 Corvette 180 L-48 4-spd 4-Brl
CLD 91 305 Pontiac 170 L-03 700R TBI Firebird
CLD 91 305 Camaro 170 L-03 700R TBI

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: What motor do i have??

Forget that number.

Look at the casting number of the block instead. That will tell you INSTANTLY what size motor it is.

Looks to me like there's exactly zero chance that it's anything other than exactly what belongs there; namely, a 91 L03.

Re: What motor do i have??

Since GM used the same suffix code over a few different years, you can't always get 100% information. Fortunately, a casting number can distinguish between a small bore 305 block and a 4" bore block. Once you know what the bore is, you can use the suffix number to determine what the engine originally came from.

Sound like you have a factory L03 since the last part of the VIN number matches the car. I doubt someone would hunt down a CLD 350 corvette block then restamp the 91 third gen VIN into it.

Re: What motor do i have??

Well, does the engine compartment look like a swap has even been done? Look for things like misplaced wires, basically anything that looks hacked together. Also, if your motor is TBI it really wouldnt make sense for someone to swap and older carb 350 to a LO3 injection setup. They would usually just look for the LO5 I would think.
