VATS Question

Hey guys, I have a question about the VATS system. I just did a TPI swap into a 68 CHevelle. When I tried to start it, it wouldnt start...it just cranks. I had a spark but it looks like no fuel is entering the engine. I have pressure in the lines and rail, but nothing in the cylinders. The engine is from a 1990 GTA. My question is about VATS. I bought the engine from a wrecked car. When I pulled the door on the ECM it had a hypertech chip in it. I was told that aftermarket chips do not support the VATS. Ironically, the engine wont start, and it appears that I have no pulse from the injectors. Do you think I need the VATS bypass even though I have an aftermarket chip. Anyone else ever run into a problem like this?

There's a good tech article on VATS linked from the thirdgen.org homepage.

Re: VATS Question

in response, I know exactly the way the VATS works. My question is does an aftermarket chip eliminate the VATS coding? I was told it does but it seems like thats the problem. Everything else is working fine. I didnt look into it too much after it didnt start because it was getting late. I have a VATS bypass module but thanks anyway.

Re: VATS Question

all the hypertech chip does is alter timing curves i believe the vats is programmed into the computer or you could burn your own chip to disable the vats but the bypass module is the easiest way to go
