Engine Swap Question(s)
Engine Swap Question(s)
I am looking to get an 88-92 Camaro within the year and I was most likely going to upgrade three main things on the car ASAP. Those being 1) Engine 2) Transmission 3) Rear-End
So far I haven't really looked into rear's all that much but I have decided to go with a Stage (or Level) 3 700R4 Transmission. The engine is a problem though. I would want to get an engine swap as soon as possible because having high mileage scares me (also why I am getting new tranny and rear) and plus I want more power too. I want a turn-key kind of engine that I can buy and just drop into the car and go. Problem is I want / need it to be fuel injected not carb. So far I have only found 3 or 4 fuel injected engines that vary in price from $5,000 (350 RamJet) to over $12,000. I looked into doing an LS1 swap a bit, but that seems more compilcated and might not be worth it since the 350 RamJet would get me 350hp (note: I also found the 502 RamJet for $9,400 - 502hp - Does that fit into a third gen without any problems?) and I also thought about just getting a 350 TPI if I got a 305 since they're cheaper and adding to that, or getting a 350 right away in the car and adding to it, but I can't find any new 350 TPI engines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
PS - Would a turbo kit designed for the L98 Corvette (86-91) work on an L98 350 TPI camaro (88-92)?? - Thanks again!

Re: Engine Swap Question(s)
I don't see that as a problem. Read on.

LS1, on the other hand, is 305 net flywheel HP with stock manifolds and intake, which is easily more than 350 GFWHP. The LS1 is easy to reprogram with outstanding results - cam, intake, and programming changes easily gets you over 400 HP. Harder to install, perhaps, but you can get a complete reasonably low mileage LS1, transmission, harness, and PCM for what the RamJet alone is going to cost you.
502 RamJet and "fit without problems" don't belong in the same sentence.
Not likely. Routing will be different at the very least.

Hey dude go to craigslist.com my friend is selling a 502 ramjet with 10000 miles on it in warrenton missouri for 5200 no lie. Hes bout to go to jail and needs the money. The motor is a beast I kid you not and its flawless. I was gonna put her in my 85 but it would be to complicated so I decided just to put a 350 in her. Check it out you wont find this deal anywhere.
