Throttle Cable Bracket
So I am just about to get my car running but I have not found a clean throttle cable bracket yet.
I have a 82 Z28 that had a 305 carb motor in it. I installed a 383 vortec motor and my throttle cable bracket will not work. I have a manual trans and cruise control with a holley carb.
Anyone have a picture of a clean throttle bracket or know how makes one?

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket
You've got what intake and carb now?
Your factory bracket is for a quadrajet. Since your new engine and your old engine are the same dimensions, the only reason it wouldn't work is if you are running a holley on a single plane intake or something along those lines. In that case you will need an aftermarket bracket from Summit or Jeg's or someplace that sells aftermarket stuff.

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket
I'm running a Holley 600 on a dual plane. I used the original Q-jet set-up (cruise included. By the way, if you dumped the computer, you'll need to reground the cruise for it to function) though I may have modified it. Sorry, the old brain isn't what it once was.

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket
Yeah, I think you can make it bolt on, the problem is that the cable doesn't hook to the throttle stud on the carb at the same spot on both carbs. You may not get full throttle or low idle depending on which way the throttle bracket is off.

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket
I am running a holley 800 cfm carb.
The vortec heads use intake bolts that mount straight up and the conventional heads are at an angle. That is where the problem is.
I was just avoiding trying to make a braket from scratch.

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket
I no doubt modded the OE piece, which works fine with both the carb and the Vortecs (Just don't recall exactly what I did).

James,
Could you take a picture with your air cleaner off?
Any other picture would be appreciated too.
