Engine swap policy for Oregon
Engine swap policy for Oregon
Hi Everyone,
I talked with the folks at DEQ in Oregon and here is the documentation they sent regarding engine swaps.
This is a good (quick) read and gives a little flexibility when swapping motors.
If you are doing a motor swap, you must adhere to federal regs as well as state regulations if you plan to run it on the street. That means if it had smog equipment on it, you can't take it off.
Let me know if this info was helpful at all.
Take it easy!!

That's pretty much standard everywhere, but only really enforced if you live in an area where you have emissions testing/visual inspections.

I hear ya! Oregon is trying everyday to be in line with California. They are encompassing the entire state to comply with emissions testing every two years now.
Should be interesting to see how far they take it!!
