383 Stroker Oil pan

383 Stroker Oil pan
Have a 383 short block with Eagle 6.00" H-beam rods,3.75 stroke crank. Which oil pan will work on this combo and clear the crossmember? Older block: drivers side dipstick and 2-piece seal. The reason I am asking is because in the pan(s) description they say OEM style or steel rods. Since the h-beams are bigger in size I am concerned about clearance issues. Thanks

How much did you have to grind on the oil pan rail of your block?
I'd recommend the GM "Z28 pan" http://www.sdparts.com/product/36045...Z28OilPan.aspx Note that it REQURIES a windage tray; I use the Moroso Teflon-coated flat one and the GM studs. I think you can get studs from ARP, Manley, Milodon, or somebody else, also.
I would NOT use the Milodon pan. Maybe the Moroso. I would think it through carefully; the GM one clears all exhausts, all Y-pipes, all crossmembers, all starters can come out, etc. etc. etc.; what kind of risk will you take with an aftermarket one?

That seems to be the question. When I talked to reps at Milodon and Moroso there answers always seem to be generic or they say it is supposed to fit! That's why i was looking to see if anyone had actually used any of these pans. maybe the Z-28 pan may be the answer, as long as the cuts in the block are not too deep. That I will have to measure.Thanks for the link.

Yeah I know what you're up against there; one person's idea of "fit", might not be quite the same as somebdody else's. Like that commercial a few years ago that had some big dumb-looking guy in a shop trying to pound a battery into some car with a HUGE hammer, and saying to the customer watching in horror, "The catalog says it's supposed to fit".
And you can be sure, if it doesn't "fit" to your satisfaction, they won't be coming out and making it fit for you, or giving you your money back, or anything like that.
But I can tell you, from running the above pan and tray myself for 12 years or more on a 400 in my car with first the stock L69 exhaust, then Edelbrock TES, and finally SLP headers, it "fit" as well as the OE pan did, in my car. And yes, I could remove the starter with all 3 setups, without touching the exhaust or the oil pan.
