Re: Disappointingly slow progress

i am looking into getting a 1983 Berlinetta v-6 5 speed. I have a 71 -350 LT-1 to put in it. Is it worth it or too much trouble to do it. I understand everything about beefing up the front end and putting sway-bars. I was told the tranny would hold up ,because it is the same one that goes into the V-8.It is a carb v-6. and i am going carb with the v-8. Does all the wiring still have to be changed over, because of the v-6? I have put v-8 motors in jeeps and Volvos, but this is a first for a camaro and if it is going to be alot of hassle I might bail out on it and wait for a v-8 camaro to come around. This one has never been wrecked and is a one owner and just looks great except for whats under the hood. ADVISE, PLEASE!

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Start by reading this https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...swap-read.html

I would say a '71 LT-1 is more of a collector item than a candidate to swap into a 3rd gen.

(And, for the record, at thirdgen.org, we ask that you don't post new topics in someone else's thread. )

No problem. There's a "New Thread" button above the list of threads that you click to start a new topic.

Re: V6 to '71 LT-1

Wow, deffinitely, that lt-1 should be sold to a collector and then build yourself or buy a 383 or 406 with the money and then take the left over money to fill up the gas tank a couple of times.
