v6 to v8, interior wiring help!
v6 to v8, interior wiring help!
I have a 87 camaro that had the 2.8 v6, swapped in a 350 tpi from an 89 firebird, used the donor cars engine wiring harness, got a new computer, etc. The engine cranks, but now I am unable to get 12v to the fuel pump, so, after some wire chasing and head scratching I think "maybe you have to switch out the interior harness too" since the c100 (1000?) connector on the firewall is different for the v6 and the v8. And, since my v6 one was a missing a pin at the fuel pump spot I figured this would solve my problem. So today I go to swap out my interior v6 harness with the v8 one from the donor car. However, upon closer inspection the interior harness for the v8 is junk! so now I'm stumped, heres what I'm wondering...
1. Am I correct that the v6 interior harness needs to go?
2. Is there any way to make the v6 interior harness compatible with the v8 engine harness?
3. Since my v8 interior harness is junk, what do I do now?!
Thank you guys for any help/advice you may have. I'm so close to getting this car on the road and this wiring stuff is driving me crazy!

another question - if i buy a new interior harness would it have to be the exact match to the engine - ie. firebird formy 1989 tpi350 or could i get away with a 1989 iroc harness??

You might want to search out Z28 *****, I think he has done this before.
Myself, I always have two wiring diagrams handy when swapping FI applications:
1. The diagram for the car you are building
2. The diagram for the car your engine came from.
With those two things in hand, it's just a matter of matching this wire to that hookup...
Good luck!

hey i believe its the wiring u are having a problem with. im having the same thing, its my dash harness ( 1990 3.1 to 1988 350 tpi) . also u are going from a non vats to a vats system that might also be giving u a problem. i cant get my car started either but its close. i just cant get my injectors to fire. i know if u look at the wires coming from the V8 harness to the V6 harness the colors are different ( at least for me it is ). check your fuse box i bet injector 1 & 2 are fried and busted. dont try to put more in there they will just pop or worse MELT. also if u want fuel get a 5 dollar switch from radioshack ( a 3 wire switch power, ground, and acc ) hook the gray wire from the pump behind the rear seat to the acc then a wire to the battery to power and then ground it. that will give u fuel but may not fire the injectors. thats where i am right now.
